The 2010 Campus Challenge organizers reached out to more college students than ever before. Participating groups organized tabling events in high traffic areas, distributed Rosie materials, promoted campus pharmacy services, led a dorm storm for students living on campus, hosted an open mic night with performances and information on EC, and distributed EC donated from a local clinic.
The BUYBC team is proud to announce that University of Wisconsin Law Students for Reproductive Justice (UWLSRJ) is this year's winner! UWLSRJ promoted Back Up Your Birth Control Day all week beginning with a visibility campaign around campus. The group hung posters with facts and statistics about emergency contraception, pregnancy, sexual assault, and contraception, which encouraged students to get involved and participate in the other events. Throughout the week UWLSRJ organized an informational table in the common area of the law school with Rosie materials on emergency contraception, a directory of local clinics that offer free EC, condoms, temporary tattoos and a button maker to make custom pins. An educator from Planned Parenthood presented on legal rights, birth control, and barriers to access to an audience of enthusiastic students.
The Back Up Your Birth Control Campaign aims to increase awareness of and improve access to emergency contraception. This campaign is coordinated by the National Institute for Reproductive Health.
